1. REVIEW: Essence Eye Shadows and Eyeliner

So for those of you who have never heard of Essence before, it’s a company new to Canada. It’s from Germany, although the brand manufactures all of their products in Italy. It’s extremely inexpensive, yet is rated highly for great pigmentation and colour pay off!

Today I will be reviewing the Colour and Shine Eyeshadows (in colours 01 and 11), as well as the Eyeliner pen (in black).

    Eyeshadows:

    • The Essence Eyeshadows are amazingly pigmented for such a small cost (under $3 each) They go on like a mineral eyeshadow, with the veining creating a very multi-dimensional colour on the eye, while still being extremely blend-able. However, like a lot of mineral eyeshadows, they are extremely glittery, and the fall out is ridiculous. I recommend tapping off as much excess as possible, before applying either of the colours to your eye Their staying power is okay, somewhere between 5 and 7 hours, however towards the end of the 7 hours, they’re starting to look pretty bad
    • Overall: I would definitely recommend these products. For less than $3.00 their pros outweigh their cons, and their small packaging makes them great for travel

    Eyeliner:

    • The Essence Eyeliner claims to be ” a pen for a precise line, colour intensive and extra long lasting and smudge-proof.” Unfortunately, aside from being a precise, I’ll have to claim these untrue. I had really high hopes for this eyeliner, because as you can see, it swatches really well! However I find it to be very dry and streaking. I’m really picky with my felt-tip eyeliners and this one just did not step up to the plate. The first stroke goes on black, then everything after that is grey and not consistent.
    • Overall: Although this product was only $4, I would not recommend it. I don’t believe in dealing with a shitty product, just because it’s cheap.
